I was raised on Spielberg, James Bond and Doris Day, at a time when movie collections were amassed by recording from the tv (all 6 channels).
VHS was king, and a blank 4-hour tape was a glorious but rare treasure.
When that treasure was in short supply, it was inevitably poor old Doris who was ‘taped over’ with some late-night blood-bath actioner that I acquired with the help of ‘Set Timer Record’. Neither the watershed nor a 9pm bedtime could prevent me from prematurely discovering the wonderful world of 
and 
movies.
In my teens I rebelled against the mainstream and found new joy in Asian cinema.
Less Hollywood, more Hong Kong.
Less Coppolla, Kubrick, Wilder.
More Kurosawa, Kitano, Woo.
Fast forward a few decades, and while my taste might be a little more balanced these days and my VHS collection a distant whirring memory, my passion for film has not diminished.
And so this site was born to share opinions, rants and humour without the clutter of ads, annoying popups or ‘click Next Page to view next image’. 😡
Also absent from the site are long rambling reviews or news reports as I present popcorn-sized nuggets of information, and I keep ratings short and sweet, sometimes salty, but most importantly, always without spoilers.
When I’m not crossing off movies from my watchlist and invariably adding dozens more, I help boost businesses, big and small, and increase website hits through the skill and art of copywriting.
